Naomi is gently sweeping out the snow covered on the field. She works as carefully as an archaeologist does, trying not to destroy the root systems of their tomatoes. These tomatoes grow in a garden located in a forest. Because of the shelter provided by the trees, there’s still a sense of warmness left for the vegetables to grow at the beginning of the winter. The garden means a lot to them. The villagers are counting on these vegetables for this whole winter as they haven’t been able to find a new food source.
Seeing the thin yellowish vine climbing weakly along the fences, Naomi sighs, wondering whether she will get some lucks this time. She carefully shakes the vines, removing the snow and then lifting the dry leaves, hoping to find a tomato for today’s dinner. Oh great, there’s one! A smile bloomed on Naomi’s face. The tomato is about medium size, in beautiful reddish color with only a little bit green on the top. It will make a delicious meal with the eggs she bought from the merchant. Zia will love it!
Naomi collects this tomato into her basket. While thinking about what else she can add to tonight’s menu, Naomi discovers three other tomatoes, all in good condition. What a great harvest! The food is enough for the three people in her family. The next step is to gather some water.
Apart from the besom she used for gathering tomatoes, Naomi also brings a steel bucket with her. After locking the door of the garden, she goes north up to a mountain, where the waterfall locates on the top of it. The waterfall is another magical existence to the villagers. It was found by one of the villagers after the tornado. Half of the mountain collapsed and revealed the waterfall hidden in a cave. It is warm throughout the time and never froze even during chilly winter. No one is able to offer a reasonable explanation to this mystery after their only geologist died last winter. Though there are so many mysteries around it, there’s no denying that it is one of the most essential things to the village.
